Overview
NextScan is an early-stage healthcare booking concept I worked on with a Toronto-based venture studio.
In Ontario, access to MRI imaging is tightly restricted through the public healthcare system. For any scan that isn’t deemed urgent, wait times of 3–6 months are common. At the same time, accredited imaging clinics just across the U.S. border often have same-week availability.
NextScan explored whether a simple booking and coordination service could help Ontarians access imaging sooner by connecting them with out-of-province clinics. I took the project from a high-level brief to a live product, marketed it, and coordinated real booking requests with clinics.
What I Did
Designed and developed the V1 product end-to-end using Lovable and Supabase
Created the brand, registered the .ca domain, and built the full booking flow
Built custom analytics to track funnel drop-off, sorting behavior, and scan demand
Implemented confirmation and internal alert emails using Resend
Created and ran paid acquisition experiments on Meta and Reddit
Iterated on the product based on real user behavior and feedback
Created an operations playbook and manually coordinated real booking requests
Spoke directly with imaging clinics in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico
Helped users navigate requisitions and next steps to complete their scans
Conducted direct outreach to sports medicine clinics and personal injury law firms
The product generated multiple real booking requests within the first week, and I personally handled coordination between users and clinics.
Why It Matters
This project demonstrates my ability to operate with autonomy and ambiguity.
With minimal direction, I designed, built, launched, marketed, and operated a real product in a sensitive domain. I didn’t just prototype an interface — I dealt with trust, ethics, operations, analytics, and real users making real decisions.
I effectively acted as a mini-founder, taking responsibility for everything required to move the project forward, learning quickly from the market, and delivering tangible results under tight timelines.
